While Arena does not have a storyline, progress similar to Stadium and Stadium 2 allow the player to win Cups in the six arenas and completing in the Elite Fortress, the ultimate championship. The Pokémon featured in this game are mostly from the Jade and Amethyst generation, yet there are 16 Pokémon from each previous generations: Red, Blue, & Yellow; Gold, Silver, & Crystal; Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald; and Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum. However, some of the unlockables are legendary Pokémon from all the generations you can access and put into your team by the end of the game.
Arena Tournament
When you enter each arena with 8 battles, there you must complete 4 battles; the final battle in each tournament will be the arena championship round. The diagram of the tournament is like this:

In the game, there are six arenas that are based on the elements. There are two extra arenas: the first one is the Elite Six’s arena and the other one can be unlocked by winning the last arena tournament. And as well, the cups you can win from that arena tournament

Lighting Arena – Thunder Cup
Sea Arena – Wave Cup
Cloud Arena – Rain Cup
Underground Arena – Cave Cup
Elite Fortress - World Cup
An extra arena can be unlocked by completing the Elite Fortress
